How much time does it typically take to Develop Resilience?
I recently experienced the loss of someone I admired deeply. It left me heartbroken. To cope with these feelings I made an effort not to dwell on them. In fact I didn't even mention it to my family because I wanted to avoid stirring up those emotions To put it differently I adopted an approach of pretending that it didn't happen. This approach is as effective, as reactions like getting angry distancing oneself from others blaming oneself or dwelling in the pain.
For individuals who possess self awareness and emotional intelligence difficulties can catch us off guard. However acquiring ways to navigate through adversity. A set of skills known as resilience by researchers. Can assist us in coping and recovering more swiftly or at least taking steps in that direction. The Greater Good Science Center has compiled resilience practices on our website "Greater Good, in Action " alongside evidence based exercises aimed at promoting kindness, connection and happiness. Here are 12 of those resilience practices (squeezed into five categories) which can help you confront pain with skill.
Resilience encompasses the capacity to navigate and recover from lifes challenges. It plays a role, in how we handle pressure and maintain our composure. Individuals with resilience tend to maintain an outlook and cope with stress efficiently. Research indicates that while some individuals naturally possess resilience it is also a skill that can be cultivated. Whether you are currently facing difficulties or seeking to prepare for obstacles there are ways to develop resilience, such as;

It is important to acknowledge that everyone encounters challenges and hardships at some point, in their lives. Resilience enables us not to cope with stress and adversity but to grow through these experiences often referred to as "thriving" rather than merely surviving.
People who possess resilience are more likely to;
Manage the demands of their /work and personal lives. Take measures to address challenges, problems and setbacks. Seek support and assistance when they require it. Recognize when its necessary to take a break rest and replenish their resources. Have a sense of independence, self confidence and self value. Establish and maintain relationships, with others based on respect. Possess a sense of purpose and future goals. It's important to note that resilience is not a fixed characteristic. Different periods, in life may bring varying levels of resilience. The good news is that resilience can be acquired, practiced, developed and strengthened over time.
